What is Biodiversity?

Picture
BIODIVERSITY is the existence of a broad variety of life forms, such as plants and animals, within their native habitats, biome, and even the entire planet. The more diversity of life forms there are within an ecosystem, the healthier the system.

UNFORTUNATELY, many ecosystems are at risk for losing biodiversity, and in some ecosystems, this has already happened. Loss of biodiversity can lead to all sorts of issues, including air quality, water purification, and even climate control. View the Issues with Biodiversity to learn more.

LOSS
of biodiversity affects each of us. See the Solutions tab for 5 things you can do to see how small changes can make a big impact to preserve biodiversity in your backyard and on the planet.
